Help Using the Library: Ask-A-Librarian

View step-by-step instructions for finding books, eBooks, and articles, accessing online databases, requesting items from other campuses or colleges, and more.

Even though the Library is currently closed due to COVID-19, we are still available to help! Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., you can contact an SJR State Librarian via chat or email.

A Librarian is available at each SJR State Campus Library to provide you with instruction and assistance. Our services include:

  • Answering questions, including those requiring facts, statistics, or bibliographic information
  • Instruction and assistance in accessing and using the library catalog, online databases, and other applicable information technologies
  • Assistance with formulating search strategies
  • Assistance citing resources
  • Referral to appropriate resources, agencies, or libraries
  • Additional services for faculty:
    • Instructional sessions conducted in the classroom or in the Library on any topic or resource 
    • Creating modules about library resources, citation styles, or digital literacy instruction in Canvas 
    • Creating subject, department, or course LibGuides

Please don't hesitate to ask your Public Services Librarian for help - there is no such thing as a "stupid question."

 

The statewide Ask-A-Librarian service provides help via chat & text 10 a.m. to midnight Sunday - Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
